How to Reach Alleppey?

By Air:

Kochi International Airport is nearest and well connected with all major cities of India and some of the foreign cities as well. Kochi airport is jus 55km away from Alleppey. It takes one hour to reach Alleppey from Kochi. You can take a taxi outside the airport or bus or you can take train from Ernakulam Jn.

By Road:

Alleppey is well connected with National Highways which are very scenic with the Sea visible on one side of road and coconut trees on the other. One can hire a cab or drive by own which is very enjoyable.  One can take a KSRTC bus or a private bus to and fro from Alleppey, these buses are connected to major cities like Kochi, Kozhikode, Trivandrum, Coimbatore, Bangalore, Chennai by Alleppey bypass road.

By Rail:

Alleppey railway station is the nearest station jus 2km from main city. Alleppey is very well connected with major stations of India like Cochin, Coimbatore, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata on regularly basis arriving here.

Places to Visit:

1.Alleppey Beach:

The famous beach in Alleppey located just 3km from city centre. It is the famous attraction for people visiting Alleppey. Relaxing & Enjoying on the sea shore is overwhelming. Alleppey Beach festival & Sand Art are must visit attractions of this beach.

2.Alleppey Backwaters:

Alleppey Backwaters are beautiful fusion of waterbodies, canals, lakes. We can enjoy the scenic beauty of backwaters by cruising in the Houseboats. Previously these backwaters were the mode of conveying with small villages, fishing then backwater came to existence as tourist spot and became India’s Backwater Tourism. Boathouse can be booked online with minimum price of 4000INR and houseboat has check in time at 12.00 pm and check out on next day at 10.00am, many packages are available in case if you want to stay 2 days, packages are customised.

In this house boat we are assisted with chef, servant and a rower. We are provided with all the amenities on cruise and delicious authentic Kerala food served on banana leaves. Once we check in to houseboat the team ensures that your trip become memorable.

To board Houseboat you must reach Finishing Point before 12.00pm and cruise drops you back here after your check out.

4.Vembanad Lake:

This is the longest lake in India. It is referred by different names in different regions. Cruising  on this lake is a different experience ,watching different varieties of birds, flora and fauna.

5.Shri Krishna Temple Ambalappuzha:

One of the famous Krishna temples in India, located 10 km from Alleppey. It is built in traditional Kerala Architecture. Famous for its Paal payasam(sweet rice pudding).

6.Marari Beach:

Marari beach is 20 km from the city, this beach has less crowd compared to Alleppey beach and  perfect picnic spot for couples and family.

7.Light House:

Light house is just few meters from Beach and is 150 years old and 30’ high.

8.Punnamada Lake:

Punnamada Lake is the extension of Vembanad Lake. One can explore this lake on houseboat cruise,Alleppey Backwater Paradise

9.Mannarasala Shree Nagaraja Temple:

Famous Nagaraja Temple in South India. It is 30km away from Alleppey near to Haripad. Temple premises is marked with snake sculptures and drawings. This temple is headed by priestess. People with Sarp Dosha visit this temple to reduce the intensity of this dosha. It is one of the Historical places in Kerala

10.Nehru Trophy Boat Race:

Nehru Trophy Boat Race is also called as Snake Boat Race. This race is held annually in the month of August in Vembnad lake. It is thrilling to watch long narrow boat moving in the lake replicating snake movement.

Duration to Stay:

Minimum of 2 days with planned itinerary is fine to stay in Kerala Alleppey, and if you want to explore as holiday 3-4 days of stay is ok to enjoy the silent backwater and get relaxed from stressful and busy life.

Best Time to Visit:

Best time to visit Alleppey is between October to mid-March. New Year, Christmas are very crowdy. Nehru Trophy Boat Race is held in month of August is also must-see event in Alleppey.

4.Village Walk:

After the houseboat is parked in the village, take a walk in the village ,you can experience the real life of peoples residing near backwaters.

5.Kerala Sadya:

Do not miss to enjoy authentic Kerala food cooked in coconut oil.

Food in Alleppey:

Alleppey has authentic Veg traditional Kerala Cuisine including Idly Sambar with special coconut chutney, Puttu and Kadala Idiyappam, Steam rice, Sambar, Rasam, Veg curries especially with grated coconut, Banana Chips are special in Kerala.

Coming to Non Veg traditional Cuisine is Meen Curry which is fish curry served with Rice, Thalassary biryani .
