Kodaikanal is a beautiful and splendid scenic hill station in the Southern Indian state Tamil Nadu,. Also known as Crown of Palani Hills.We can view Palani Town from here. Kodaikanal has abundant natural beauty of sloping hills covered with fog, waterfalls, lakes and parks. Kodai is a hillstation specially famous for honeymooners.
How to reach Kodaikanal?
Madurai International Airport is the nearest to Kodaikanal, approximately 120 km away. Regular flights of Air India, SpiceJet and Jet Airways are available from here for cities like Chennai, Mumbai and Bangalore. From outside the airport, travellers can easily avail bus or taxi services to reach Kodaikanal. From Coimbatore International Airport it is approximately 170km. One can book a cab or book bus from local travel agents.
Nearest railway station station is Palani which is 60km away from Kodaikanal and from there we have to take taxi .Kodaikanal Road is a station near to Madurai which is 80 Km from Kodaikanal and from there we can have bus or we can hire taxi .There are many trains connecting from Bangalore ,Chennai ,Madurai to Kodaikanal road railway station.
Best way to reach Kodaikanal is by road. Hire a taxi from Coimbatore(150 km),Palani(60km),Madurai(120km) we can experience the scenic beauty of Palani hills& enjoy the journey to Kodaikanal.
If you are on solo or budget trip then travelling by bus is best option we can take bus from Palani bus stand cost 80 bucks per person,one can take bus from Madurai Bus stand which have frequent buses to Kodaikanal.
There are many traveller volvo buses from Banglore ,Ooty to Kodaikanal too.
Duration of Stay in Kodaikanal:
Minimum of 2-3 days with planned iternary is fine to visit Kodai, and if you want to explore as holiday 4-5 days is perfectly ok to enjoy and explore.
Places to Visit in Kodaikanal:
Kodaikanal is the place where every spot is must see, full of dense trees ,star shaped lake, green mountains ,valleys ,cloud touching the mountain top every now and then which gives complete experience of nature.There are many sightseeing packages available for couples and groups as well and are pocketfriendly.
Man made star shaped lake, located in heart of Kodaikanal. One can enjoy pedalboating. Around the lake there is track where we can enjoy cycling,double cycling,horse riding,angling.
It is 1 Km walk built on mountain which defines mountain ,valley and villages
The botanical garden in Kodaikanal, known for its flora & fauna. The best time to visit this park is during the flower show held in the month of May.
4.Bear Shola Falls:
It is named as many bears would drink the water from this fall
Kurunji Temple is mainly dedicated to Lord Murugun. Pthe temple is also associated with the Kurunji Flower which blooms once in 12 years carpeting the whole area with purple flowers.
7.Silver Cascade Falls:
Just 8 km from Kodaikanal town, Silver Cascade Falls, known for its celestial and exquisite flow of silvery waters. It is a delight to see the pure crystalline water flowing down from a 180 ft tall cliff.
Observatory is operated by Indian Institute of Astrophysics to study the Solar behaviour.
It is one of the best tourist spot, one can enjoy horse riding here.
The Guna Caves shot into the limelight when the Tamil movie Guna which was shot inside the caves, was released.

Best Time to Visit Kodaikanal:
June to September: The monsoon season, primarily the months of July and August, can be tricky. However, the beauty of rains and fresh air is best felt during this period. September is a great month to travel because it doesn’t rain much and the weather is ideal for sightseeing.
Feb to June: These months are ideal to visit.Weather is chill and breeze with fog to give different charm to the weather.
