Munnar a is alluring hill station in South Indian state of Kerala in Idukki district. Munnar is 5200 ft above the sea level. By Air:

Nearest Airport is Kochi International Airport which is 110 km away from Munnar. And is very well connected with major metropolitan cities of India. Also, Kochi Airport is connected with many major cities abroad.

Madurai International Airport (150km) and Coimbatore International Airport (150km) are some of the nearest Airports to Munnar.

From airport you can book a taxi to reach Munnar. You can take bus from Ernakulam Bus Stand one way drop costs 2500 from Ernakulam.

By Rail:

Nearest railway station is Ernakulam or Aluva Railway Station(105km) and Coimbatore Railway Station (150 km), from these railway stations we can hire a taxi to reach Munnar.

All these Railway stations are well connected with Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Hyderabad.

By Road:

Munnar is connected with beautiful scenic route with tea plantations and dense forests which makes journey refreshing. There are many KSRTC and private luxury buses from Bangalore, Coimbatore and   Ernakulam.

One can also take bus from Udmalpet to Munnar there are many Kerala and Tamilnadu state buses direct to Munnar, this is very pocket friendly.

Places to Visit in Kerala Munnar

Eravikulam National Park:

This park is located 15 km away from Munnar, is the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Eravaikulam park is home of  Nilgiri tahr .It is treasure of wildlife ,here you can spot some wildlife like Sambar Deer,Golden Jackel,Gaur,Leoperd,Tigers.

Kundala Dam & Lake:

The most scenic place 20km away from Munnar. Boating can be enjoyed in the lake.

Elephant Camp:

One of the famous  must to be  visited spot by tourist. You can see lots of Elephants as Kerala is famous for treasuring Elephants.Munnar Kashmir of South India is popular for Elephant riding

You can enjoy Elephant Savari ,children will definitely  enjoy elephant ride.

Mattupetty Dam :

Matupetty dam is constructed under Pallivasal Project in 1940 for water conservation.This lake is surrounded  with lush greenery ,chirping birds makes famous spot for tourists.

Lakkam Waterfalls:

Its almost one hour drive from Munnar towards Marayoor, Water flow is perfectly fine and water is cold so you can love playing in water for long duration.

Timings are 8 .00am to 5.00pm with nominal fees of 20 Rs per person.

Anamudi Peak:

This is the highest peak of South India and western ghats. Going to Anamudi peak requires special permission from forest department .It takes 5 hrs to complete Anamudi Trek.

Echo Point:

The famous point in Munnar due to its phenomenon where if you yell there you will get the words back which is truly enthusiastic.  For a while you feels like your childhood is back.

Spice Garden:

Many varieties of spices grow in Munnar like cardamom, cloves, pepper and many more .In these gardens you can walk around these trees or plants learn about the spices and their cultivation methods.Experts  from the gardens explains everything about  spices and herbal plants as well.

There are many spices gardens in Munnar,you can visit any of it as per your convenience. They charge you 100 rs per person.

Tea Garden &Tea Estates:

In Munnar there are more than 40 tea estates some of  famous ones are  Sevenmallay owned by Tata Tea Company,Pallivasal Tea Garden,Kolukkumalai Tea Estate.

Best time to Visit:

Best time to visit Munnar is between September to February as the weather is very pleasant.

April to June you can experience some hotness in weather but still you can enjoy visiting during summers.
